Transparency

It’s our job as citizens to be involved in our government. From voting to reviewing financials – we are the ones who keep our elected officials accountable. In the digital age there is no excuse for prompt release of information, including meeting minutes from closed sessions. While the Village of Mundelein makes their open meeting notes available, closed session notes require extra steps via Freedom of Information Act requests. These additional steps aren’t required by law and only serve to maintain secrecy.

As a Village of Mundelein Trustee, I’ll work and vote to ensure full transparency!

Flooding Mitigation Plans - Phase 1

The Division/Lake Street flooding mitigation plans are now in Phase 2. Below are the phase 1 plans supplied by the Village of Mundelein.

Mayor and Trustee Stipend History

A recent news article mentioned that the Village Board may soon consider raising the stipend amounts for the Mayor and Trustees, currently $500 and $250, respectively. Below you’ll find the breakdown of stipend expenses paid in recent years, to whom the expenses were paid (their paid to the organization and not to the elected official), and the policy concerning the stipend amounts.

Closed Session Meeting Notes

The Village of Mundelein does not publish their closed session meeting notes. While not required by state statute to publish them, they require the extra step of requesting documents via the Freedom of Information Act. This extra step requires the requestor to get their request right and wait for a response, upwards of five or more business days. This information should be readily available for public review and I’ve requested all released notes from 2014 through present.

Below are the released closed session meeting notes from 2014-Present:

These additional files regarding Village of Mundelein taxes, Village owned properties, liquor licenses, etc. were included in recent FOIA requests:
